Erica Shirk is a printmaker and teacher based in Tacoma, Washington, with a degree in Studio Arts and Chemistry. The two fields come together in the printmaking techniques she fell in love with. Her practice moves from vast, shifting landscapes to the inner terrain of feeling. While at Aviário Studio, she created large-scale prints that weave mythology, sport, and movement. Erica made two large scale MDF board reductions and an intaglio large scale copper plate print where soft ground, white ground, aquatint and à la poupée inking were combined. The resulting images feel strong, bringing together boldness and subtlety.
