Resident in October 2025
Nationality: USA
El Navarro is an art-book maker drawn to the meeting point of image, text, and touch. A queer Filipino-American interdisciplinary artist based in Portland, Oregon, they work across collage, letterpress, screen printing, monotype, and poetry. As a student in Portland’s IPRC Art Book Portfolio Program, El is deepening a practice that treats the book not as a container but as a living surface that holds memory, tension, and breath. At Aviário Studio, they experimented with silkscreen and linocut as ways to process emotion, filtering their inner world through ink, fibre, and pressure. They also created a series of zines— intimate DIY booklets where sequence, pace, and materiality become part of the feeling itself. We were honoured to host El Navarro at Aviário Studio and to witness their exploration of paper, print, and form.
