Alyssa Lizzini is an artist, drawer, painter, and writer from Cleveland, Ohio. Her creative practice focuses on exploring social geography, community engagement, and drawing as a form of documentary. Alyssa works on-location, using drawing, painting, and printmaking to craft visually intricate artworks that reflect the complexity of our social and spatial environments.
While at Aviário Studio, Alyssa created a set of six circular painting studies. These works explore spaces and objects imbued with feelings of being "left behind," carrying a profound sense of memory. Each circular canvas acts as a window or portal, inviting viewers to contemplate blurred memories or forgotten places. The delicate white line drawings layered atop these paintings were screen printed from Alyssa’s original pen sketches.
During her residency, Alyssa also experimented with ceramics for the first time, creating uniquely shaped tiles and learning the technique of screen printing directly onto ceramic surfaces.
