50 x Abril – Artes e Factos da Nossa Revolução

50 x Abril – Artes e Factos da Nossa Revolução

As part of the 50th Anniversary Celebrations of the 25th of April, The Maria Dias Ferreira Foundation presents 50 x Abril – Artes e Factos da Nossa Revolução (“50 x April – Arts and Facts of Our Revolution”) to evoke and celebrate the Portuguese Democratic Revolution, covering the historically vital period from April 1974 to April 1976, from the date of the military coup led by the MFA (Armed Forces Movement) to the year the Constitution of the Portuguese Republic was adopted, enshrining freedom and democracy in Portugal.

Intense days and nights are revisited through more than 300 original posters, stickers, leaflets, programs, and statements from political and civilian movements of the period, along with audiovisual materials and regional press reports that capture the spirit of a nation in transformation.

Drawn from three private collections — José Afonso Sousa, Frederico Cunha, and Sebastião Rodrigues – the exhibition showcases works by designers and artists such as João Abel Manta, Helena Vieira da Silva, Marcelino Vespeira, Cid, and others, alongside audiovisual documentaries from RTP (Rádio e Televisão de Portugal).

Curated by Aviário Studio and Laredo Cultural Association, with graphic design by Sylvie Lopes. At the Alfredo Keil Cultural Center, Ferreira do Zêzere.
